Apple Confirms Latest MacBook Pro Keyboard Problems

2015’s new MacBook model shipped with Apple’s butterfly keyboard. This allowed for a thinner laptop thanks to the butterfly keyboard switching mechanism. But the butterfly keyboard has been a thorn for Apple since its arrival, with a raft of problems reported online.

These included dust stopping keys activating, sticky keys offering double letters on a single keystroke, and broken springs effectively deactivating a key.

Nether did the problems stay with the 2015 MacBook. The butterfly keyboard was rolled out across the range, including the updates to the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. But in the quest for a thinner laptop, Apple has retained the millimeter saved by the butterfly design through multiple iterations, rather than ‘bulk up’ and go back to an older but proven keyboard.

And the current third-generation keyboard still exhibit the same flaws.
