Catching a driver who won’t face justice

Dear John: I was riding my bike on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn when I was struck by a [driver] who overtook me. I slammed into another car and was in such pain that I did not get the insurance information of the driver who struck me.

An ambulance was called by the driver of the car I slammed into. The ambulance took me to the hospital. The police took the driver’s details and I later retrieved the police report from the precinct.

I have been trying to reach the driver so that her insurance company can settle the bills from the incident. I wrote to [the driver] providing my full contact details and phone number, using the address on the police report. However, I did not receive a response.
