CUNA webinar outlines data breach MAP campaign, resources

CUNA staff hosted a webinar Tuesday highlighting the latest Member Activation Program (MAP) campaign, Stop the Data Breaches. CUNA launched the campaign last week to focus on educating and activating members to call on members of Congress to enact data breach legislation. A recording of the webinar is available for free to CUNA members.

Trey Hawkins, CUNA’s deputy chief advocacy officer for political action, said credit unions’ efforts passing S. 2155 shows the success possible with strong grassroots efforts.

“We learned during S. 2155 that we need to keep a steady drum beat when it comes to contacting lawmakers and policymakers, and that’s what we want to do here,” he said. “Now is the time to start educating credit union members, helping them and getting them the tools they need to start educating lawmakers. That’s how we’re going to see action.”
