Traditional Slavic Weddings

Traditional Slavic marriage customs included many ceremonies and were difficult. The bride’s shift from her family’s community product slavic mail order brides to her dad’s tribe was planned for them. Strategies for matchmaking, handshaking, and perhaps a wedding bash were included. Additionally, they were intended to demonstrate that the pair was prepared for a new life and marriage.

Both the groom and the bride stood on an analogion, a longer rectangular linen, during the marriage service. They were poured liquor and bouquets on their heads by a priest. One of the more well-known Russian ceremony customs is that after the ceremony, guests do clap and yell “gorko”! ( bitter! )! until the couple gave it a kiss to” sweeten” it.

For the honeymooners, veneers made of light flowers like violet and myrtle served as a sign of love and infinity. A pastor led the brides three periods around the analogion to represent their lifestyle together, and the honeymooners wore it around it. Then they split the crowns into shards, with each marble representing their relationship year.

A dinner was prepared following the wedding, which could survive up to two days! A kalachins was another after-wedding tradition. This group involved 14 floats and was held after per fortnight at the couple’s home. It was believed that if the wedding and his pals attended a kalachins, they would get devoted to him in their union. Russian women are frequently referred to as powerful, independent, and devoted wives and mothers. They are aware of their worth and respect electric power, which allows them to maintain long-term relationships with low divorce rates.
