U.S. News says these are the top public elementary and middle schools in Arizona

Phoenix-area schools dominated U.S. News and World Report’s new public elementary and middle school rankings.

Just one school from outside metro Phoenix placed in Arizona’s top 10 for elementary or middle schools: Masada Charter School in Colorado City was U.S. News’ fifth-ranked elementary school.

Most of the schools in the top 10 lists are district schools. Four of the 20 schools in the two top 10 lists were public charter schools.

U.S. News ranked schools using student proficiency data from state math and English language arts tests. Part of the ranking methodology examined a school’s test scores in light of its “socioeconomic demographics.” Student-teacher ratios were used to break ranking ties.
